Additional Explanations

Form 990, Part XII, Line 1:

The financial statements of the organization have been prepared on the modified cash basis of accounting, which is a comprehensive basis of accounting other than generally accepted accounting principles in the United States (U.S. GAAP). Cash basis of accounting recognizes income from cash when received rather than earned and expenses when paid rather than incurred. Modifications to the cash basis of accounting include recording property and equipment, related depreciation expense, conditional promises to give (mortgage payable) and donated food. Accordingly, the accompanying financial statements are not intended to present financial position and results of operations in conformity with U.S. GAAP.

Financial Statement Notes

Part X : FIN48 Footnote

The Organization, an Illinois not-for-profit corporation, is exempt from income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and applicable state law, except for taxes pertaining to unrelated business income. The Organization has been classified as a publicly supported organization that is not a private foundation under Section 509(a) of the Code. During the year ended June 30, 2025, the Organization has no taxable unrelated business income.The Organization has adopted the accounting standard regarding accounting for uncertainty in income taxes, which addresses the determination of whether tax benefits claimed or expected to be claimed on a tax return should be recorded in the financial statements. Example of tax positions include the tax-exempt status of the Organization and the continued tax-exempt status of various positions related to the potential sources of unrelated business taxable income (UBTI). At June 30, 2025 there were no unrecognized tax benefits identified or recorded as liabilities. Currently, the 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 tax years are open and subject to examination by the Internal Revenue Service and the Illinois Department of Revenue; however, the Organization is not currently under audit nor has the Organization been contacted by either of these jurisdictions.
