“On January 30, 2024, the board of directors approved an amendment to Section 2: Purpose of the bylaws to expand the charitable purpose of the Organization. The amendment has been reflected in the wording below: (a) The general purpose of the Foundation is the performance of all activities authorized by, consistent with or incidental to the Internal Revenue Code provisions pursuant to which the Foundation has been established. The Foundation is established pursuant to, and within the meaning of, section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code as currently in effect or as may be amended in the future, or the corresponding sections of any future tax code, and shall be operated exclusively within the scope of these provisions. (b) The primary, but not exclusive, purpose for which the Foundation is organized shall be to provide law school scholarships ("Scholarships") so as to stimulate excellence in the legal profession through scholarships to law students attending accredited law schools in the state of Illinois and so thereby provide service to the law student, law schools, the legal profession and various communities they serve consistent with the ideals, principles and values of the Illinois Judicial Council ("IJC").”
