Financial Statement Notes

Part X, Line 2:

The Trust and its affiliates received tax determination letters from the Internal Revenue Service indicating that they are tax-exempt organizations under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and, except for taxes pertaining to unrelated business income, are exempt from federal and state income taxes. Income taxes recorded in the accompanying consolidated financial statements for unrelated business income amounted to $122,602 and $73,112 in the fiscal years ended September 30, 2024 and 2023, respectively. Income tax receivable amounted to $1,322,559 and $1,479,988 as of September 30, 2024 and 2023, respectively, and is included in other assets in the accompanying consolidated statements of financial position. The Trust accounts for uncertain tax positions in accordance with FASB Interpretation No. 48, Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes (included in FASB ASC Subtopic 740-10, Income Taxes - Overall). There is no impact on the consolidated financial statements as a result of this pronouncement as the Trust has no significant uncertain tax positions.
