The primary mission of the organization is to promote the economic development of the business community and to invite customers and patrons to visit the central street business district.
Membership in the central street business association is open to all businesses in a selected area of evanston illinois and represents a voluntary group of businesses located on or near the central street business corridor in northwest evanston, illinois in a variety of marketing and charitable activities. The primary purpose of the group is to promote the economic development of the business community and invite customers and patrons to visit the central street business district. The organization collects dues annually to pay for a variety of shared costs. It also receives from time to time grants from local entities such as the city of evanston, evanston central street neighbors association and the 4th of july association to improve the attractiveness and desirability of visiting the business district. The association funds in part or in full shared advertising for its members, maintains an informational website, and also sponsors special community events throughout the business year
