Mission

Pillars aspires to build healthier communities by making connections and changing lives. We do this by providing quality mental health services, social services (addictions, crisis, domestic violence, sexual assault, children and family services, and housing), and education for people of all ages.

Major Activities

Activity 2
Early childhood - pillars' child and family development center provides a supportive environment that allows children to gain the skills needed to be successful for school readiness and life. Activities focus on improving literacy, math and science skills, physical development, and social emotional development. Culturally-competent services are provided and bilingual staff members are present in the classrooms (languages include english, arabic, and spanish). Pillars' child and family development center provided head start and daycare programs to 242 children during the fiscal year. Services are provided to children ages six weeks old to five years of age, including children with disabilities and special needs. 100% of enrolled families in need of additional resources were linked to other pillars programs or outside service providers.
Activity 3
Domestic violence/sexual assault - pillars' domestic violence and sexual assault services include two 24 hour crisis lines, shelter for women and their dependent children affected by domestic violence, case management, individual, group, and family counseling, medical advocacy, and legal advocacy. During the fiscal year, pillars' domestic violence program provided nearly 10,000 service hours to more than 900 women and children. Of the clients served, 146 (62 adults and 84 children) accessed more than 4,500 nights of shelter. In addition, more than 1,000 community members were reached through educational presentations and outreach. Pillars' sexual assualt program provided over 4,000 service hours to 325 survivors and significant others.
