“Conference usa's 990 is completed by an external accounting firm. Upon completion of the 990, the accounting firm sends to conference usa for review. The associate commissioner reviews the 990 comparing it to the audited financial statements and conference usa's financial system reports. Once reviewed by the associate commissioner, the commissioner receives copies for final review and signature. Once approved by the commissioner, the 990 is submitted to the irs. The board of directors is then made aware of the submission, and it is available to them upon request.”

The associate commissioner of business affairs reviews the submitted questionnaires and will report any conflict of interest to the commissioner, general counsel, and outside legal counsel. In conjunction with his/her performance review, the board of directors uses data such as membership organizations personnel surveys, industry specific data from winthrop intelligence, and 990 reports from comparable organizations to determine reasonable compensation for the commissioner. The chair of the board of directors documents this evaluation and it is placed in the commissioner's personnel file.”
