“Although 2020 was an incredibly different and painful year for everyone, SHARK continued to push its mission of saving animals via multiple campaigns. In January, SHARK documented the rodeo at the National Western Stock show in Denver. We exposed two contractors for especially disgusting abuse. Also in January, we went to the headquarters of the American Veterinary Medical Association to confront the group about its longstanding support of rodeo animal abuse and could not get a response. The leadership and management of the AVMA, by supporting this, knowingly gives cover to the cruel, corrupt phony cowboys of rodeo. With Operation Shutdown, SHARK targeted canned hunting clubs operating in violation of state shut-down orders. One event was for 1,000 tame ducks, who were to be released and shot, followed by a second event where 1,250 ducks and pheasants were to suffer the same fate. We presented the evidence to New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy and the Governor took immediate action and shut the two slaughterhouses down, saving 2,250 lives! In a partnership with the Humane Farming Association, we have been working on the issue of Cockfighting. Most of the effort has focused on farms that raise fighting roosters and on the people who make it obvious that they are involved in cockfighting on the internet. Cockfighting has been illegal throughout the continental US for more than 12 years, and yet, the big groups have utterly failed to deal with this issue. We made a couple of trips to Virginia to document the animal concentration camp now called Envigo. Our drones showed dogs living in and eating their own filth and suffering emotionally. By showing the world the faces of these dogs, SHARK proved the undeniable truth about the animals imprisoned in these camps; each and every one is a living being no different than the dogs we call family. We tried to engage with Ducks Unlimited, the supposed conservation organization, for its live pigeon shoot fundraiser that is held annualy at the infamous Minnesota Horse and Hunt Club. Not surprisingly, the folks at Ducks Unlimited weren t interested in even attempting to defend what they do. More info, videos, and how to help on all events can be found at sharkonline.org. We will meet those challenges, and there will be many victories.”
