Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 1

The Executive Committee consists of the Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Secretary, and Treasurer and is chaired by the Chairperson. The Executive Committee conducts business between board meetings as necessary and reports its actions at the next meeting of the board. The Committee evaluates the programs and services provided by Riverview Center, Inc. and reviews the long-range plans for services, is responsible for the performance evaluation of the Executive Director and makes recommendations for a salary adjustment with input from the Board of Directors, reviews the personnel evaluations completed by the Executive Director, and meets a minimum of six times per year.

The Form 990 is provided to management, the finance committee, and the board of directors in order to review for accuracy before being filed with the IRS.

IRS990/Desc0Riverview Center provided 1,397 individuals (including 322 children) with 19,518.75 hours of trauma-informed services through sexual assault/abuse services for survivors in 14 counties in Northeast Iowa and 2 counties in Northwest Illinois and domestic violence services in 2 counties in Northwest Illinois. There were a total of 1,370 crisis and information/referral calls/contacts from survivors and the community. Community awareness events/ programs/ initiatives were provided for 52,184 community members. Riverview Center is unique in that it is the only non-culturally specific agency in the 14 county Northeast Region of Iowa providing sexual assault services and the only agency providing sexual assault or domestic violence services in the 2 counties we serve in Illinois. Unlike other mental health agencies, all of the services are provided absolutely free of charge without regard to sex, race, and socioeconomic status. Riverview Center promoted, encouraged, and facilitated the reduction of incidences and effects of sexual assault through victim support services. We are grateful for our strong partnerships with law enforcement agencies, hospitals, schools and organizations and have emerged as a crucial resource for the community in how to best assist survivors as they work to overcome obstacles created by the trauma of violence. We educate about how to be an ally and an active bystander when sexual or domestic violence is suspected or witnessed and how to best support survivors on their journey toward healing. Sexual Assault/Abuse Program:Riverview Center provided 1,192 individuals with 16,973.25 hours of sexual assault therapy and advocacy services in 14 counties in Iowa and 2 counties in Illinois. There were a total of 688 crisis and information/referral calls/contacts from survivors and the community. Community awareness events/ programs/ initiatives were provided for 51,751 community members. Illinois Sexual Assault Program:- 93 Individuals (36 children & 57 adults) received 1,365.5 hours of advocacy and counseling services- Crisis and Information/Referral Support provided during 88 calls/contacts and 205 I/R contacts- Institutional Advocacy: 1,017 meetings with 1,908 allied professionals- Professional Trainings: 40 trainings for 383 community professionals- Educational Programming/Community Awareness/Outreach/Social Justice: 499 initiatives for 31,441 community members Iowa Sexual Assault Program:- 1,101 Individuals (242 children & 859 adults) received 15,607.75 hours of advocacy and counseling services, including support during 242 hospital calls- Crisis and Information/Referral Support provided during 395 in-person/telephone contacts- Institutional Advocacy: 1,203 meetings with 4,438 allied professionals- Professional Trainings: 69 trainings for 2,548 community professionals- Educational Programming/Community Awareness/Outreach/Social Justice: 344 programs for 11,033 community members

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0Riverview Center provided 205 individuals with 2,545.5 hours of domestic violence counseling and advocacy services in 2 counties in Illinois. Through our violence prevention education and awareness programming, we have reached nearly 43,000 people across the 16-county region we serve in Eastern Iowa & Western Illinois this past year. We are grateful for our strong partnerships with law enforcement agencies, hospitals, schools and organizations and have emerged as a crucial resource for the community in how to best assist survivors as they work to overcome obstacles created by the trauma of violence. We educate about how to be an ally and an active bystander when sexual or domestic violence is suspected or witnessed and how to best support survivors on their journey toward healing.
