“"the goal of the transitional housing program is to provide subsidized, long-term housing and comprehensive case management to asian immigrant victims of domestic violence. Our transitional housing (th) program provides critical aid to survivors as they recover and rebuild a solid foundation free from violence. The th program assists survivors with finding and securing safe and affordable housing units, creating budgets, and covering up-front rental expenditures such as security deposits, first months rent, and/or utilities. Survivors who take advantage of the th program develop long-term financial independence and self-sufficiency by maximizing kan-wins long-term empowerment programs and other wraparound service plans. Kan-wins th program offers subsidized housing so our clients can select the neighborhood that they want to live in. The th program coordinator works with clients to assess housing options after deciding on their ideal location. She conducts in-depth inspections, guides them through the application and screening processes, and speaks with landlords about the survivors particular needs to help them resolve any credit or documentation problems. The program coordinator also travels with survivors to utility offices, public benefit offices, schools, and other locations where they may require advocacy or interpretation to apply for additional aid, such as the supplemental nutrition assistance program, and low-income home energy assistance program. Expenditures for clients in the th program include: application fees, moving costs, utility bills, and rent costs."”
“The peer advocate leadership (pal) program leverages a peer-to-peer education method to establish trust and engage with community members on domestic, dating, sexual violence, and stalking issues. The program is run in mongolian, korean, mandarin chinese, and has a youth program (youth peer advocate leadership, or ypal). Participants attend a 5-week training program through which they will reach out to their peers to deliver education on domestic violence issues. This program allows pals to practice verbalizing and normalizing talking about these issues, help them discover in their language how to define various concepts, and use their trust networks to spread awareness about victims' rights and options. Pal participants receive stipends of up to 100 for their participation. This autumn season, we had 51 dedicated participants across each pal programs.”
“For our transitional housing participants and select clients, we offer a specialized economic empowerment program. Through the program, participants are equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary to manage personal finances, minimize financial risk, and develop professionally. Financial literacy trainings are conducted in korean, english, chinese, and mongolian. Since it was launched in 2023, survivors have opened bank accounts and began saving towards their individual goals, with a savings match made available upon their goal achievement. Outcomes from this program included 100% of workshop participants that had social security numbers accessing their credit report for the first time, 100% accessing their credit report (85% of them stated that it was their first time obtaining one), and 100% responded that they feel theyve built a basic foundation for financial literacy. Additionally, 73% of participants opened a savings account for the program and developed a savings goal, and 82% of participants started building a savings habit of 50 every month. Eep participants also receive stipends for their participation.”

| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 1 | "THE GOAL OF THE TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROGRAM IS TO PROVIDE SUBSIDIZED, LONG-TERM HOUSING AND COMPREHENSIVE CASE MANAGEMENT TO ASIAN IMMIGRANT VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. EXPENDITURES FOR CLIENTS IN THE TH PROGRAM INCLUDE: APPLICATION FEES, MOVING COSTS, UTILITY BILLS, AND RENT COSTS." |
