WE ALSO PROVIDE THE STATE REQUIRED 40-HOUR TRAINING FOR NEW VOUNTEERS AND STAFF AS WELL AS TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS. INSTITUTIONAL AND POLICY ADVOCACY ALLOWS APNA GHAR TO WORK ON IMPROVING OVERALL CONDITIONS FOR THE SURVIVORS WE SERVE.”

“Program Service Expenses 144,784, Grants and allocations 0, Revenue 0 LEGAL ADVOCACY OUR LEGAL ADVOCATES GUIDE SURVIVORS THROUGH THE LEGAL SYSTEM, HELP THEM UNDERSTAND THEIR OPTIONS AND HELP THEM ACCESS AVAILABLE REMEDIES, INCLUDING OBTAINING CIVIL ORDERS OF PROTECTION, PRESSING CRIMINAL CHARGES, OBTAINING CRIME VICTIMS COMPENSATION, FILING FOR DIVORCE, CUSTODY AND SUPPORT, AS WELL AS IMMIGRATION BENEFITS THROUGH PROTECTIVE STATUTES SUCH AS THE VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN ACT. ADVOCATES HELP CLIENTS OBTAIN LEGAL REPRESENTATION THROUGH AN IN-HOUSE FAMILY LAW LEGAL CLINIC AND PARTNERSHIPS WITH AREA LEGAL AID AGENCIES AND VOLUNTEER ATTORNEYS.”

“Program Service Expenses 95,620, Grants and allocations 0, Revenue 0 24-HOUR CRISIS LINE THE CRISIS LINE ADDRESSES THE IMMEDIATE SAFETY NEEDS OF CALLERS. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES CRISIS COUNSELING, SAFETY PLANNING, INFORMATION AND REFERRALS TO PROGRAMS AND SERVICES WITHIN THE AGENCY AND EXTERNALLY.”

“Other program services supervised visitation and safe exchange program provides a safe place where children can interact with their visiting parents and create safe and healthy relationships. The program also offers a safe location for parents to pick up and drop off their children during safe exchanges.”

“Counseling our counselors provide individual and group services, including psycho-social education, narrative therapy, support groups, creative art therapy, and conflict management to help adult and child survivors process and heal from trauma of abuse.”

“Outreach and education we raise community awareness about gender violence and provide information and training on available resources to combat this violence. We also provide the state-required 40-hour training and technical assistance to partner organizations. Institutional and policy advocacy allows apna ghar to work on improving overall conditions for the survivors we serve.”

“Legal advocacy our legal advocates guide survivors through the legal system, help them understand their options and help them access available remedies, including obtaining civil orders of protection, pressing criminal charges, obtaining crime victims compensation, filing for divorce, custody, and support, as well as immigration benefits through protective statues such as the violence against women act. Advocates help clients to obtain legal representation through an in-house family law legal clinic and partnerships with area legal aid agencies and volunteer attorneys.”

“Transitional housing we provide second stage housing in the city of chicago and in the northwest suburbs through ten scattered site independent apartments for survivors of gender violence and their families.”

“Attachment 1 apna ghar, inc. Provides holistic services and conducts outreach and advocacy across immigrant communities to end gender violence. The organization aims to help survivors of gender violence achieve safety, stability and self-sufficiency, and to provide community education and advocacy in an effort to positively impact systems, and improve overall conditions for the survivors we serve. Apna ghar developed its own model of holistic service delivery in collaberation with loyola universitys center for urban research and learning based on an ecological framework that takes individual, family, community as well as systematic and societal barriers into account.”
