The Chicago Metropolitan Trauma Society (CMTS) is an organization composed of providers of trauma care from each of the largest Chicagos adult and pediatric Level 1 Trauma Centers. The goal of CMTS is to provide a forum for the exchange of knowledge pertaining to the management of trauma, surgical critical care, and emergency general surgery patients. Our members include attending surgeons, emergency medicine physicians, surgery residents, emergency medicine residents, and trauma/critical care nurses. All of the activities performed by CMTS are performed by members of the CMTS committees.Educational Meetings (85%):a) To accomplish our goal of facilitating exchange of knowledge between our member institutions we host meetings that are open to all members and their guests who participate in the care of Chicagos trauma patients. Additionally, these meetings provide Continuing Medical Education (CME) opportunities for participants. b) Monthly meetings are held in January, February, March, April, May, September, October, November and December.c) Meeting locations vary based on convenience for attendees and availability of venue. Experts from CMTS committees direct the topic and discussion.Community Activities (15%)a) CTMS collaborates with the American College of Trauma to provide community reach-out opportunities providing resources such as bleeding control, advanced topics in trauma care, clinical process, and approaches to treatment of critically ill or injured patients.b) Community activities will be scheduled based on need resulting from contact and discussion with area trauma leaders at the above-mentioned meetings.c) Meeting locations vary based on convenience for attendees and availability of venue.
