Activity 2

Residential programs - advocacy, counseling & shelter a safe place provided 5,323 nights of emergency shelter to 98 adults and 109 children in fy2013. This included victims who stayed at the shelter facility as well as 27 victims who received 460 nights of shelter at local hotels. Hotel shelter is provided when there is no room at the agency's 35-bed emergency shelter or when a client is an adult male or has a male child over the age of twelve. A safe place also operates a 24-hour crisis line out of the emergency shelter. Support is available any time, day or night, for victims in crisis or concerned friends or family members who are seeking information on domestic violence and a safe place's services through this crisis line. The crisis line and counseling provided through this program are available in english or spanish, along with additional language translation via a language line. In fy13, a safe place responded to 2,390 crisis calls.

Activity 3

Transitional living program - affordable housing & supportive services a safe place provided 13,353 nights of safe housing in transitional living apartments to 29 women and 43 of their children in fy13. Women sign six- month leases and can renew for up to two years in our transitional living program. Along with affordable housing, the tenants receive on-site supportive services, including domestic violence support groups, life skills training, and counseling services for adults and children. This section of the form 990 includes the safe housing aspects of the program, with supportive services provided through our nonresidential programs.
