IRS990/Desc0PROVIDING SUBSIDIZED CHILD CARE SERVICES TO LOW AND MODERATE INCOME FAMILIES. THE CENTER OFFERS EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMS FOR INFANTS, TODDLERS, PRESCHOOL GROUPS, BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS, AND SCHOOL HOLIDAY AND SUMMER CARE PROGRAMS. IN THE 2019-2020 YEAR, 24 CHILDREN WERE IN THE INFANT/TODDLER GROUP, 91 ATTENDED PRESCHOOL, 69 CHILDREN ATTENDED BEFORE/AFTER CARE AND SCHOOL HOLIDAY AND SUMMER CARE PROGRAMS. ALL OF THESE PROGRAMS ARE ONGOING. THE ONGOING CRISIS OF HIRING AND RETAINING QUALIFIED TEACHERS IS BEYOND CRITICAL. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO HIRE QUALIFIED TEACHING STAFF. THIS IS DRAMATICALLY IMPACTED CLC'S ABILITY TO STAY FULLY ENROLLED. COVID FORCED A SHUT DOWN FROM MARCH 17-JUNE 28, 2020.DESPITE THE HIRING AND RETAINING TEACHER CRISIS, CHILDREN'S LEARNING CENTER REMAINS COMMITTED TO PROVIDING HIGH QUALITY EARLY EDUCATION AND CHILD CARE. THIS HAS NOT BEEN EASY BY ANY STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION.CHILDREN'S LEARNING CENTER CONTINUES TO BE A GOLD CIRCLE OF QUALITY FROM THE EXCELERATE ILLINOIS PROGRAM. THIS DEMONSTRATES THE ONGOING EFFORTS TO PROVIDE HIGH QUALITY EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION FOR THE FAMILIES.CHILDREN'S LEARNING CENTER REMAINS ACCREDITED THROUGH EARLY LEARNING LEADERS NATIONAL ACCREDITATION COMMISSION.IN RESPONSE TO THE COVID PANDEMIC, CHILDREN'S LEARNING CENTER INSTALLED A WALL AND DOOR SEPARATING THE SCHOOL AGE PROGRAMS FROM THE PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS. THIS WAS MADE POSSIBLE IN PART THROUGH A DEKALB COUNTY COVID RELIEF FUND GRANT PROCESSED THROUGH THE DEKALB COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION. MANY WALLS WERE REPAIRED AND PAINTED IN PREPARATION FOR THE REOPENING OF THE CENTER AFTER THE MANDATORY COVID CLOSURE. A HANDWASHING SINK WAS INSTALLED AT THE FRONT OF THE BUILDING. ALL CLC'S FAMILY AND STAFF POLICIES WERE REVAMPED TO INCLUDE COVID PROCEDURES AND ACTION PLANS. NO PARENTS ARE ALLOWED BEYOND THE FRONT ENTRYWAY. CHILDREN AND STAFF ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR MASKS THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE DAY. EVERY CHILD, FAMILY MEMBER DROPPING OFF THE CHILD, AND STAFF ARE SCREENED EVERY DAY FOR COVID SYMPTOMS. ALL AREAS OF THE CENTER ARE DEEP CLEANED AND DISINFECTED MULTIPLE TIMES THROUGHOUT THE DAY.
