Membership criteria are established by the worldwide erc board of directors from time to time. Membership is available to both individuals and corporations involved in global mobility, including: for-profit and government organizations engaged in relocating employees; real estate brokers and appraisers; relocation service providers and relocation management companies. Each category of membership is afforded a distinct array of benefits, including access to educational tools and resources, networking, directory listing, publications, research and volunteer opportunities.

The form 990 is prepared by independent tax advisors and is reviewed by the ceo and vice chair finance; a copy is provided to each member of the governing body prior to filing.

Every year, the board of directors is issued a conflict of interest policy statement, outlining what constitutes a conflict, and what notice they are required to give in the event a conflict arises. Additionally, each member of the board of directors must sign a statement agreeing to comply with the policy statement. If a conflict arises, the person is recused from the governing body's deliberations and decisions surrounding the applicable transaction. Form 990, part vi, section b, line 13: the organization intends to adopt a whistle blower policy in the subsequent year.

The ceo/president compensation was established in a negotiated contract signed by a chairman of the board. The salary was benchmarked against an index for similar positions. Variable compensation was based on results measured against performance objectives as determined by the chair in accordance with the negotiated agreement. Form 990, part vi, section b, line 15b: executive vice president and senior vice president salaries are determned by ceo/president and measured against industry and geographic averages for similar positions.
