Activity 2

Member service programmatic expenditures: these expenditures envure the college addresses and satisfies the many divergent needs of our membership. The 2012 expense totals include support for college-wide communication efforts to our members (our members have acess to the menopuase magazine "pause" at no charge and the monthly "newsletter"), the resource center which maintains extensive information on women's health issues available to our members and the general public, and support for electronic dissemination of information through the member's website, and the editorial functions exercised over the many patient education literature.

Activity 3

Publications, practice and health services: the college maintains, develops, and revises up-to-date and comprehensive professional publications geared to satisfy the informational needs of both the women's health care professionals and their patients. Over 700 titles are maintained in the college's inventory and are made available to health care professionals and institutions throughout the world. During 2012 approximately 22,000 orders for publications were received, processed and shipped. In 2002, the college introduced the clinical updates in women's healthcare monograph series addressing topics of current interest to the practicing physician. This series has proven to be very popular with healthcare professionals. In 2012, over approximately 11,700 subscriptions were filled. Practice service expenditures promoted the development, promulgation and dissemination of standards of care for women's health. The college spent over $288,000 in support of committees such as gynecologic practice, the obstetrical practice, ethics, patient safety, and genetics. The college also continued its liaison efforts with the american academy of pediatricians and the academy of family practitioners to ensure clinical care standards developed for the medical specialties were appropriately coordinated and consistent. During 2012, the college's commitment to issues affecting women's health was demonstrated through the efforts associated with the promotion of several initiatives. The college supported outreach programs to underserved women and adolescents, promoted smoking cessation programs, developed initiatives to better educate professionals on domestic violence issues, and undertook initiatives in central and south america to promote women's health in these underserved areas.
