During the current year, the organization changed its corporate name from portland cement association to american cement association.

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 6

Cement industry members. Any business organization or group of business organizations under common ownership, government agency, or individual engaged in the manufacture or sale of portland cement in the united states or its territorial possessions shall be eligible to become a cement indusry member, subject to a minimum payment of dues to be established annually by the board of directors. In the case of membership applicants located in a country other than the united states, association membership may be granted to a cement industry trade association representing a majority of cement companies of that country. The annual fee for membership in such cases shall be determined by the board of directors.

Although each member only has "one vote", there are various personnel (ceo, coo, subsidiary, etc) eligible to be a board member. The votes of members at board meetings shall be weighted proportionally on the basis of shipments (as computed by the secretary for the latest calendar year) on which dues have been paid by the aca member company whom the member belongs too. If a given aca member (or group of an affiliated member company) is represented by more than one company, the member company's shipments or shipments of the group of the affiliated member company shall be allocated using a prorated amount amongst those members participating in the meetings.
