“Line 6 explanation - journeymen are members who successfully completed a training program for apprentices. These members have voting rights. Apprentices are members in training and have no voting rights. Honorary members are members with five consecutive years of service or more and have become permanently disabled or incapacitated while working at the trade and have been in good standing. These members have no voting rights. Lifetime members are members who have attained the age of 65 and have been in continuous membership for 25 years and have been in good standing. These members have voting rights that are determined by the local union. Military members are members who have submitted satisfactory proof to the general executive board of military service to the government. These members have no voting rights. Probationary members are members graded according to their skill level during the probationary period and at the end of that period are slotted at the appropriate skill level at the apprentice school. These members have no voting rights.”

Any member or employee of the organization can contact the international association of bridge, structural, ornamental and reinforcing iron workers (an affiliated organization also governed by the constitution) with any complaint arising under the constitution, or any other disciplinary rule, regulation, practice or procedure adopted by the international association. The us department of labor requires all non-clerical employees to report on form lm-30 potential situations where there may be conflicts of interest. This information is open to the public.”
