The organization has voting members that pay membership dues.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 7A

The president will appoint representatives to fill director positions with the approval of the bbd. The bbd will approve directors to ensure that all sectors of the industry are represented which shall include ibca directors to national beef organizations. Area director positions left vacant by election to office shall be appointed by the beef board of directors.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 7B

All policy resolutions whether originating from association working groups, committees, the beef board of directors or from individual members shall be addressed by members attending the policy adoption forum held prior to the ibca annual meeting. If any resolution so introduced shall fail to be reported at the policy adoption forum, the membership at the annual business meeting may allow by a majority vote, its re-introduction, and it may be adopted by a majority vote of the members present and voting.

Ibca does not make its government documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements available to the public, but all documents that are required to be made available are done so upon request. Ibca provides any updated governing documents and financial statements at the annual business meeting of the association, and they also are made available on at least a quarterly basis, if not more often, to the ibca board of directors.

FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

Promotion of the beef industry including transmission of consumer, producer, and industry-related information. Assist all segments of the beef industry, specifically association members, in establishing and maintaining a strong, profitable beef industry in indiana.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4D

The association's functions include education, meetings and events designed to promote the beef cattle industry among members throughout the state. The vast majority of members are beef cattle farmers and others involved in indiana's beef cattle industry. The association promotes the beef cattle industry to youth through events for 4h, and has a large presence at the indiana state fair each year, including food booths, demonstrations and competitions.

Management of the organization evaluates all significant tax positions to ensure compliance with the exempt purpose of the organization as required by u.s. Gaap, including consideration of any unrelated business income tax. As of march 31, 2016, management does not believe the organization has taken any tax positions that are not in compliance with the exempt purpose of the organization. The organizations federal and state tax returns remain open and subject to examination beginning with the tax year ended march 31, 2013.
