Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 11B

The board has the responsibility for reviewing the organiation's form 990 (including all pertinent schedules) before it is filed with the internal revenue service. A draft of the form 990 is ready for review by the board no later than a week prior to the filing deadline. After the draft of the form 990 has been obtained by the board, they will have no more than a week to complete their review. In conducting their review of the draft of the form 990, the board conducts a top-level or big-picture type of review. However, if the board deems it necessary to conduct a more detailed review of the form 990, then they contact the preparer of the form 990 to requeset copies of the relevant detailed tax return workpapers which they would like to see. Once the board has completed its initial review of the form 990, a meeting or conference call is scheduled with the preparer of the form 990 to discuss any questions, comments, and suggested revisions identified by the board. The preparer of the form 990 makes any revisions to the form 990 as soon as feasibly possible to ensure that the form 990 is filed with the internal revenue service on a timely basis. All questions, comments, and suggested revisions set forth by the board are documended, along with any responses from the preparer of the form 990, if applicable.

The board relies on comparability data to determine and approve the compensation of the executive director. The board utilizes resources such as similary situated exempt organizations in their areas to benchmark pay along with market information from other exempt organizations and for- profit organizations to assess the competitiveness and reasonabliess of the compensation. Once a decision has been made, a vote is taken for approval by the board. Recusal of the individuals whose compensation is being determined is mandatory. A similar process is in place for determining compensation of the other key employees, if any.

During the 2024 tax year, belle haven action continued its work to showcase and address local needs, issues, challenges, and opportunities, applying a strengths-based approach to stemming systemic racism in the belle haven neighborhood and surrounding areas. Our efforts focused on key areas including housing, local jobs, environmental justice, health needs, transportation, and voter engagement.key program service accomplishments for 2024 included:housing and community advocacy: we hosted workshops on tenants' rights and affordable housing, providing vital information to approximately 200 attendees. We actively participated in regional and county-wide conferences to advocate for equitable housing policies.health and wellness: we promoted and held health fairs offering free services..youth engagement and workforce development: our community engagement efforts for voter education were expanded, bringing in local high school students to work with our young adult outreach team, all students of color. Partnerships and coalition building: we maintained our collaborative efforts, including participation with thrive, the association for nonprofits in san mateo county, and umoja health of south san mateo county. We also continued our board membership and participation in the partnership for climate justice in the bay area, working on environmental justice initiatives in our community.outreach and engagement: we maintained an active outreach calendar and published our newsletter via email, text, social media, and print, distributing it door-to-door to the nearly 7,000 residents of the belle haven neighborhood.cultural and historical events: we sponsored and participated in local celebrations of black history and culture, including the ruby bridges walk to school day, juneteenth, the martin luther king jr. Day unity walk, and the citys black history month celebration. We also continued our video oral history project, accessible online at mpblackhistory.info

OUR EFFORTS FOCUSED ON KEY AREAS INCLUDING HOUSING, LOCAL JOBS, ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE, HEALTH NEEDS, TRANSPORTATION, AND VOTER ENGAGEMENT.KEY PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR 2024 INCLUDED:HOUSING AND COMMUNITY ADVOCACY: WE HOSTED WORKSHOPS ON TENANTS' RIGHTS AND AFFORDABLE HOUSING, PROVIDING VITAL INFORMATION TO APPROXIMATELY 200 ATTENDEES. WE ACTIVELY PARTICIPATED IN REGIONAL AND COUNTY-WIDE CONFERENCES TO ADVOCATE FOR EQUITABLE HOUSING POLICIES.HEALTH AND WELLNESS: WE PROMOTED AND HELD HEALTH FAIRS OFFERING FREE SERVICES..YOUTH ENGAGEMENT AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT: OUR COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EFFORTS FOR VOTER EDUCATION WERE EXPANDED, BRINGING IN LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO WORK WITH OUR YOUNG ADULT OUTREACH TEAM, ALL STUDENTS OF COLOR. PARTNERSHIPS AND COALITION BUILDING: WE MAINTAINED OUR COLLABORATIVE EFFORTS, INCLUDING PARTICIPATION WITH THRIVE, THE ASSOCIATION FOR NONPROFITS IN SAN MATEO COUNTY, AND UMOJA HEALTH OF SOUTH SAN MATEO COUNTY. WE ALSO CONTINUED OUR BOARD MEMBERSHIP AND PARTICIPATION IN THE PARTNERSHIP FOR CLIMATE JUSTICE IN THE BAY AREA, WORKING ON ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE INITIATIVES IN OUR COMMUNITY.OUTREACH AND ENGAGEMENT: WE MAINTAINED AN ACTIVE OUTREACH CALENDAR AND PUBLISHED OUR NEWSLETTER VIA EMAIL, TEXT, SOCIAL MEDIA, AND PRINT, DISTRIBUTING IT DOOR-TO-DOOR TO THE NEARLY 7,000 RESIDENTS OF THE BELLE HAVEN NEIGHBORHOOD.CULTURAL AND HISTORICAL EVENTS: WE SPONSORED AND PARTICIPATED IN LOCAL CELEBRATIONS OF BLACK HISTORY AND CULTURE, INCLUDING THE RUBY BRIDGES WALK TO SCHOOL DAY, JUNETEENTH, THE MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. IN CONDUCTING THEIR REVIEW OF THE DRAFT OF THE FORM 990, THE BOARD CONDUCTS A TOP-LEVEL OR BIG-PICTURE TYPE OF REVIEW. HOWEVER, IF THE BOARD DEEMS IT NECESSARY TO CONDUCT A MORE DETAILED REVIEW OF THE FORM 990, THEN THEY CONTACT THE PREPARER OF THE FORM 990 TO REQUESET COPIES OF THE RELEVANT DETAILED TAX RETURN WORKPAPERS WHICH THEY WOULD LIKE TO SEE.
