Mission

Facilitate and promote local philanthropy by los alamos residents, and those with strong connections to los alamos county, by providing programs intended to highlight unmet needs and donation opportunities within the county, and to meet those needs through financial and organizational support to existing and new organizations.

The form 990 is substantially completed by an outside accounting firm. The form 990 is reviewed by the treasurer and discussed with the bookkeeper and other internal or external resources as necessary. The form 990 is presented to the board, discussed, and approved with or without changes.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 12C

The board of directors executes a new conflict of interest disclosure each year. The conflict of interest policy is reviewed by the board of directors each year. The conflict of interest policy requires disclosure of potential conflicts. It is a small town and the directors may serve on multiple boards. Conflicts are reduced by reviewing conflicts of interest before grant decisions are made. Any director with a conflict does not participate in any discussion or vote on the matter.

The president of the board discussed compensation for the executive director with the board. The president gathered considerations from board members for deliberation and decision. All board members know and meet with the executive director at least each month. No board member is related to or benefits from the compensation decision for the executive director. Board members are aware of other executive director positions in the surrounding area and that data is shared and used for comparability.
