The members of the board of directors are approved by the members with terms of two years. Terms are staggered with three members terms expiring on the odd year and the other three members expiring on the even year.

The fire chief is appointed by the board of directors and approved by the entire membership of the department. The fire chief is reviewed annually. The board of directors can borrow funds up to fifty thousand dollars. Any amount greater than fifty thousand dollars must be approved by the membership.

The conflict of interest policy was incorporated into the policies and procedures of the fire department. Annually, members and officers are required to disclose their conflict of interest to the board of directors. The board of directors monitors and investigates any suspected conflict of interest and take appropriate action, if any, after the investigation. If a member of the board of directors has a conflict of interest, they will be excused from the meeting of the board of directors prior to the board of directors voting on any matter where the member has a conflict of interest.

The board of directors and operating officers of the department are unpaid positions. The firefighters are volunteers. The emergency medical service personnel are part-time and are paid an hourly rate set by the board of directors depending upon their medical services certifications (advanced life support or basis life support).
