Mission

The brown county community ymca is a nonprofit, 501(c) 3 charitable organization that strengthens community through its focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. We welcome all members of the public to join, support and volunteer at the ymca.

Putting christian principles into action and practice through programs that promote well-being through physical fitness and enhancement of personal growth for all members of the community through various programs offered.

Form 990 is provided to the organization's current chair, as well as the past chair, treasurer and executive director prior to e-filing. The rest of the board of directors review the tax return at their next board meeting with these four individuals providing input and answers to any questions.

The y-usa conflict of interest disclosure form is used by the board. New board members receive and fill-out a paper copy of this form and existing members are encouraged to review the policy that is available electronically on the y-usa site, c-track. Existing board members can also use the paper form if they so desire. Conflict of interest discussions are held at various times during board meetings on an irregular basis.

The organization is in the early stages of forming a committee to formally review and assess the executive director on an annual basis. Currently the process is rather informal. Salary and benefits will be and are a part of the process currently as they relate to the outcome of this review along with comparison to the salary/benefit programs offered in the county to other public professionals, and with other ymca organizations in nearby counties and those of similar sizes of population served.
