Mission

Care institute, inc.-highland (ciih) was incorporated as an indiana non-stock, non-profit corporation on june 3, 1994. Ciih is organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes. More specifically, ciih provides for the general welfare and promotes the health of residents of the community by providing health care services to the community including establishing, owning, maintaining, and operating residential assisted living facilities designed to meet the housing, health, and financial security needs of the elderly. Ciih currently provides financial support through donations and grants in a manner that will further the goals and operations of other charitable 501(c)(3) organizations.

Ciih owned and operated a residential assisted living facility designed to meet the housing, health, and financial security needs of the elderly at the lowest feasible cost.

Process to Review the Form 990

Form 990, part vi, question 11b the form 990 is reviewed by the controller and the president, who in turn provides it to the board of directors. Comments are provided prior to filing. The form 990 is also reviewed by an independent accounting firm prior to filing.

Process for Monitoring Compliance With Conflict of Interest Policy

Form 990, part vi, question 12c the conflict of interest policy is read annually at the annual board meeting. At that time, board members verbally acknowledge that they do not have a conflict of interest. If there is a conflict, the board assesses the situation and takes the necessary steps to eliminate that individual's voting rights on such matters in which an individual might not be impartial. The individual is excused from the room and a discussion is held and vote conducted without the individual in conflict.

Form 990, part vi, question 15a the president's salary is reviewed and approved by the board of directors. Other officers' salaries are reviewed annually and approved by the board of directors, which are compared to industry averages. Compensation approvals are documented in the board minutes.
