Form 990, Part VI, Line 1A Material differences in voting rights

The Executive Committee members shall include, but not necessarily be limited to, the officers of the Corporation. All members of the Executive Committee shall be active members of the Board of Directors. The Executive Committee is authorized to act on behalf of the Board in between meetings of the Board.

Form 990, Part VI, Line 11B Review of form 990 by governing body

In keeping with Indiana Philanthropy Alliance's values of operating in ways that are ethical and transparent, the following policy will guide the organization's compliance with Form 990 submissions: The IRS Form 990 annual tax filing (and other required filings such as 990-T as needed) shall be reviewed and approved by the President/CEO and the IPA Board Chair and Board Treasurer (or in either one's absence another member of the IPA Executive Committee) prior to submission. In addition, the full board shall receive a copy of the IRS Form 990 (and other required filings) before submission.

Form 990, Part VI, Line 12C Conflict of interest policy

The Indiana Philanthropy Alliance, Inc. conflict of interest policy covers all Indiana Philanthropy Alliance board members, officers and staff. Board members, officers and staff have the responsibility to disclose the existence of any conflict or appearance of a conflict to the President/CEO or the Chair of the Board of Directors at the earliest possible time. The board member, officer or staff with the conflict or potential for appearance of conflict is expected to excuse himself or herself from any involvement in any decision related to the matter. This does not prevent a board member, officer or staff member from briefly stating his/her position in the matter, or from answering pertinent questions related to the matter.

Form 990, Part VI, Line 15A Process to establish compensation of top management official

The President/CEO is selected by the Indiana Philanthropy Alliance board and is responsible to the board for the operation of the organization. The board approves the CEO's compensation and benefits per the recommendation of the Executive Committee, and conducts an annual review of the CEO's performance. Any board members with a potential conflict of interest must recuse themselves from the compensation recommendation. A review of Executive compensation paid by comparable nonprofit and for-profit organizations for functionally comparable positions is conducted to support the Board's compensation decisions and to guard against any excess benefit transaction. This process is documented.

(Expenses $ 34,803 including grants of $) In 2024, Indiana Philanthropy Alliance's (IPA) advocacy efforts encompassed monitoring state and federal legislation and delivering timely updates to members through email, e-newsletters, and the IPA website. IPA also engaged in active advocacy with members of the state legislature and Congress on topics related to philanthropy, charitable giving, and matters important to the communities served. IPA's policy-related efforts included producing informational materials to educate elected officials about Indiana foundations' pivotal role and impact. IPA facilitated virtual and in-person meetings to share information with and about IPA and member foundations and discuss potential public policies affecting philanthropy.

The cohort-based program provides continuing education training to equip emerging leaders for board and executive positions in foundations and corporations statewide. With each cohort, Indiana Philanthropy Alliance aims to bring fresh perspectives to the existing community, support emerging leaders, and elevate Indiana's philanthropic field. The 2024 class, comprising 22 graduates from 13 Indiana counties, exemplifies IPA's commitment to nurturing transformative leadership that drives positive change in communities across the state.

IRS990/Desc0Gift Technical Assistance Program: Supporting Indiana community foundations, this program provides technical assistance, training, and resources to over 90 community foundations and affiliate funds participating in the GIFT (Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow) initiative. In 2024, the program's approximately 50 training events encompassed nearly 900 participants serving communities throughout Indiana. There were about 150 attendees at three "Boot Camps"-basic training for community foundation and board and staff members-and over 400 GIFT technical assistance in-person and virtual consultations ranging in scope, issue area, and complexity.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0Member Services: Indiana Philanthropy Alliance (IPA) fosters a collaborative and knowledgeable philanthropic sector that is empowered to address society's most pressing challenges. During 2024, IPA held multiple networking/peer gatherings across the state and produced hundreds of email newsletters that informed and engaged its network. IPA's website was leveraged to amplify the work of philanthropy while recruiting new talent and partners into the sector. IPA also provided technical assistance and web-based access to vetted technical and professional resources. Grantmaker Education and Resources: Indiana Philanthropy Alliance (IPA) offers a comprehensive array of quality educational programs designed to fulfill members' professional development needs at a free and affordable price. During 2024, IPA provided a biennial conference with dozens of speakers and sessions, as well as over 100 educational programs, cohort meetings, and Peer Community convenings to expand its member's horizons and networks. There were 2,400 attendees at IPA programs and 520 unique organizations represented. In addition to events, IPA's searchable online knowledgebase provides access to a wealth of resources spanning various topics for foundations and corporate philanthropy. Additionally, IPA extends its expertise nationally to philanthropy-serving organizations and foundations through virtual Community Foundation Boot Camps and Foundation Legal Help Desk services.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0Community Foundation Internships (CFI) Program: The CFI program provides Indiana community foundations participating in the GIFT initiative access to grant dollars to hire college students attending an Indiana-accredited college or university. The program aims to provide operational support to foundations-expanding their capacity to serve communities. It also gives Indiana students hands-on job training and experiences that enrich their educational and personal development. These young professionals exit the program deeply aware of the important role community foundations and philanthropy serve in improving our quality of life. In 2024, 36 community foundations and affiliates offered 72 college internships.

IPA also engaged in active advocacy with members of the state legislature and Congress on topics related to philanthropy, charitable giving, and matters important to the communities served. IPA's policy-related efforts included producing informational materials to educate elected officials about Indiana foundations' pivotal role and impact. IPA facilitated virtual and in-person meetings to share information with and about IPA and member foundations and discuss potential public policies affecting philanthropy.

The cohort-based program provides continuing education training to equip emerging leaders for board and executive positions in foundations and corporations statewide. With each cohort, Indiana Philanthropy Alliance aims to bring fresh perspectives to the existing community, support emerging leaders, and elevate Indiana's philanthropic field. The 2024 class, comprising 22 graduates from 13 Indiana counties, exemplifies IPA's commitment to nurturing transformative leadership that drives positive change in communities across the state.
