“2017 saw the growth council launch the first career/job fair for high school students. The participants received training on interview techniques as well as assistance in creating a resume. 20 local companies participated in the job fair. Recognizing the importance of fostering an entrepreneurial ecosystem the growth council hosted the 11th i69 college innovation challenge. The 2017 competition involved grace college, taylor university, indiana wesleyan university, ivy tech community college, and huntington university. This year's social problem for which they had to develop a for profit solution was the challenge of attracting and retaining talent in east central indiana. Grant for grads, the growth council's home purchasing program for college graduates accepting a job in grant county served 24 households. These 24 recipients are employed by 18 unique local firms. These achievements were the results of leveraging 50 volunteers.”
