Downtown south bend, inc. Is committed to the advancement and vitality of downtown through offering business resources, support, initiatives, and incentives; presenting marketing and events to attract visitors; and highlighting downtown as the center for arts, dining, and entertainment.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

Dtsb hosted 14 ribbon cuttings and welcomed 15 new business openings. 60% were women or minority-owned with an estimated 42 new jobs created in 2024. We planned, promoted, and implemented more than 40 events in 2024, engaging over 80,000 attendees. We facilitated 2,000+ hours of dedicated downtown safety patrols. We partnered with mural mania to beautify our city center with 7 new murals. We catalyzed 3.9m+ in new investment via our exterior enhancement grants, with 13 grants awarded in 2024. 6 new riverfront liquor licenses were approved. We worked with small- scale developers to advance the revitalization of 14 long-vacant buildings. We infused life and color downtown with 5,600 annual & perennial flowers & plants. We promoted downtown events & businesses to 650,000 people via social media channels & our website. Street-level solutions through the ambassador program clocked over 6,000 cleaning hours, and removed 120,000 pounds of trash, performed weed removal in 177 blocks, watered flowers in 300 flower bowls and hanging baskets and performed 19,200 hospitality assists. Our outreach ambassador provided life-changing and life-saving outreach to the homeless and engaged in over 1,000 interactions.

Schedule D, Page 3, Part X

We recognize the tax benefit from an uncertain tax position only if it is more likely than not that the position will be sustained on examination by taxing authorities based on the technical merits of the position. The tax benefits recognized in the financial statements from such a position are measured based on the largest benefit that has a greater than 50% likelihood of being realized upon ultimate settlement. Examples of tax positions include the tax-exempt status of the organization and positions related to the potential sources of unrelated business taxable income. We have not identified any uncertain tax positions taken or expected to be taken in a tax return, and there are no unrecognized tax benefits recorded as liabilities in the accompanying consolidated financial statements. We classify interest and penalties, if any, associated with uncertain tax positions as a component of income tax expense. There was no accrued interest or any penalties related to unrecognized tax benefits at either december 31, 2024 or 2023, or any interest or penalties expense related to unrecognized tax benefits for the years then ended. We are no longer subject to examination by the internal revenue service or the state of indiana for years prior to 2021.
