DAILY DOSE OF READING STRIVES TO SUPPORT LITERACY-RICH HOME ENVIRONMENTS FROM BIRTH, RESULTING IN CHILDREN DEVELOPING THE SKILLS NEEDED TO BE READY FOR SUCCESS IN KINDERGARTEN AND BEYOND; AS WELL AS CREATE GENERATIONS OF LIFE-LONG READERS. THE PRESCRIPTIONS FOR READING PROGRAM OFFERED THROUGH DAILY DOSE OF READING SUPPORTS THE DEVELOPMENT OF EARLY LITERACY SKILLS AND READING AT HOME BY PROVIDING PARENTS/CAREGIVERS WITH DEVELOPMENTIALLY APPROPRIATE READING LISTS AT WELL CHILD CHECK-UPS. THESE "PRESCRIPTIONS" ARE DESIGNED FOR CHILDREN AGES 6 MONTHS TO 18 YEARS AND CAN BE OFFERED IN MANY PEDIATRIC AND ADOLESCENT HEALTHCARE PRACTICES IN NORTHEAST OHIO.$0$0
THE PLAY AND LEARN PROGRAM PROVIDES HIGH-QUALITY, EARLY LITERACY PROGRAMMING TO CHILDREN 6 WEEKS TO 5 YEARS OF AGE. ENGAGING, MULTI-SENSORY LESSONS THAT STIMULATE BRAIN DVELOPMENT AND EARLY LEARNING ARE IMPLEMENTED USING THE PROGRAMS SPECIALLY DESIGNED CURRICULUM THAT COMBINES TALKING, SINGING, READING AND PLAYING.CHILDREN RECEIVE NEW BOOKS TO READ AT HOME WITH PARENTS/CAREGIVERS, AS WELL AS THE "TRY-IT" LITERACY GUIDE THAT IS A RESOURCE WITH ACTIVITIES AND MATERIALS RELATING TO EACH BOOK. AS AN ADDITIONAL RESOURCE, PARENTS HAVE OPPORTUNITIES TO PARTICIPATE IN PARENT EDUCATION SESSIONS FACILITED BY DAILY DOSE OF READING THAT FOCUS ON TOPICS RELATED TO EARLY LITERACY SUCH AS VOCABULARY, DEVELOPMENT AND KINDERGARTEN READINESS. THEY CAN LEARN HOW TO READ WITH THEIR CHILDREN.TEACHERS ALSO RECEIVE EARLY LITERACY INFORMATION THROUGH THE PLAY AND LEARN PROGRAM AND HAVE OPPORTUNITIES TO OBSERVE LITERACY SPECIALISTS AND INTEGRATE THE PROGRAM CURRICULUM INTO THEIR CLASSROOMS. ENGAGING, MULTI-SENSORY LESSONS THAT STIMULATE BRAIN DVELOPMENT AND EARLY LEARNING ARE IMPLEMENTED USING THE PROGRAMS SPECIALLY DESIGNED CURRICULUM THAT COMBINES TALKING, SINGING, READING AND PLAYING.CHILDREN RECEIVE NEW BOOKS TO READ AT HOME WITH PARENTS/CAREGIVERS, AS WELL AS THE "TRY-IT" LITERACY GUIDE THAT IS A RESOURCE WITH ACTIVITIES AND MATERIALS RELATING TO EACH BOOK. AS AN ADDITIONAL RESOURCE, PARENTS HAVE OPPORTUNITIES TO PARTICIPATE IN PARENT EDUCATION SESSIONS FACILITED BY DAILY DOSE OF READING THAT FOCUS ON TOPICS RELATED TO EARLY LITERACY SUCH AS VOCABULARY, DEVELOPMENT AND KINDERGARTEN READINESS.
