“Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, habitat builds and rehabilitates modest, decent homes with the help of the homeowner (partner) family that will inhabit the home upon its completion. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit, and financed with no-interest loans. The homeowner's monthly mortgage payments go into a revolving fund that is used to build additional homes. This is not a give-away program. In addition to a downpayment and the monthly mortgage payment the partner family invests hundreds of hours of their own sweat-equity into building their home and the homes of others.”
