The organization requires each board member and employee to review the conflict of interest policy and complete the disclosure statement annually (at the annual meeting). The board chair collects the statements from the board members and the executive director collects them from the employees. The board chair reviews them and shares them with the executive committee. “The Greater Cleveland Media Development Corporation dba Greater Cleveland Film Commission (the Organization) was organized on January 1, 1998 in Ohio as a not-for-profit organization to promote increased media production in Northeast Ohio using effective strategies for attraction and workforce development including building an artistic infrastructure through film. The Center for Economic Development at Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University was commissioned by Greater Cleveland Film Commission to update the 2015 report on the economic impact of the media production industry in Ohio. The 2016 study highlights that since passage of the Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit in 2009: - Ohio productions have generated more than $400 million of economic impact in the state. - The media production industry has created more than 1,729 full-time equivalent jobs in Ohio. - A return on investment of $2.01; meaning that for every dollar spent by Ohio on the Tax Credit, $2.01 goes back into Ohios economy. The Greater Cleveland Film Commission took the next steps in cementing Ohio as a top production destination by: - Doubling the states annual cap from $20 million to $40 million. - Removing the per-project cap altogether. - Allowing 30% refundable tax credit, above and below the line. - Allowing 35% rebate for in-state labor that completed a film program within Ohio. As a result of the Greater Cleveland Film Commissions advocacy efforts, Ohio legislators have committed $7.5 million dollars to Cleveland State University to establish Ohios first standalone film school, which will be purpose built (both in architecture and curriculum) to prepare a workforce that is ready to contribute at a high level in the media industry.”
