Afp fosters the development and growth of fundraising professionals and promotes high ethical standards in the fundraising profession. The association of fundraising professionals northeast ohio chapter (afp neo) was founded in 1988 to promote ethical fundraising, advance philanthropy and provide professional education. Afneo currently serves 158 members representing nonprofits throughout summit, stark, ashland, cuyahoga, jefferson, portage, richland, and wayne counties. Afneo provides professional development to nonprofit fundraising professionals on a regular basis. “Scholarships: the mission of afp is to foster the development and growth of fundraising professionals, and the afpneo chapter dedicates its resources to that mission by providing several scholarship opportunities throughout the year. Afpneo uses a portion of our net assets to offer scholarships for fundraising professionals in northeast ohio. This provides every member with the opportunity to increase their professionalism, knowledge, and skills by attending professional development meetings and conferences at both the local and national levels. In 2024, we provided five scholarships.”
“Mentoring: the goal of the mentoring program is to pair seasoned professionals with people new to the field, those transitioning job responsibilities, or those searching for additional networking opportunities. Matches are based on goals, location, interest, and the type of nonprofits they serve. Mentors/mentees have one-on-one meetings throughout the year, attend professional development meetings, and participate in various mentoring events. In 2024, there were 13 mentoring pairs participating in the program, representing a wide variety of nonprofits, skill levels, and interests. Since 2018, more than 130 meaningful mentorships have been formed between members.”
