“The mission of the afp northeast ohio chapter (afpneo) is to foster the development and growth of fundraising professionals throughout northeast ohio and promote high ethical standards in the fundraising profession. We do this by providing outstanding professional development programs, career-growth options, mentoring partnerships, access to resources, and opportunities to network and get involved in our philanthropic community. Afpneo is committed to afp's principles of idea (inclusion, diversity, equity, and access) and strives to be resourceful to diverse individuals, groups, organizations, and activities. In 2024, afpneo served an average of 133 members from 9 ohio counties: summit, stark, ashland, cuyahoga, jefferson, medina, portage, richland, and wayne counties.”

“Afpneo continued to offer professional development to nonprofit fundraising professionals on a regular basis. We continued to offer both in-person, virtual, and hybrid events to our members. This helped our members to stay engaged and feel comfortable. Our objectives included: -reaching a diverse population of nonprofits in terms of budget size, geographic location, and services provided. -providing fundraising professionals with the tools they need to effectively communicate their organization's needs and align requests with appropriate funders. -networking with other nonprofits doing similar work to foster collaboration. -using programs as a platform for best practices for local nonprofits afpneo offered the following professional development programs in 2024, and all eligible sessions received cfre credit authorization: -january - are you interested in obtaining your cfre in 2024? Let's get started -february - building relationships with community foundations + round robin -april - focus on philanthropy -may - stewarding our donors: creative stewardship ideas the work -june - creating compelling videos with sara shookman -july - how to get the best out of your board -august - making ai your friend in fundraising -september - the "triple" ask - the trifecta of fundraising with william mountcastle -october - fundraising with integrity - resources, insights and fun -november - national philanthropy day -december - 2024 annual meeting and leadership spotlight national philanthropy day (npd): the npd awards luncheon is our annual opportunity to show our appreciation as a fundraiser for all that has been accomplished through the generosity of our friends and neighbors. This event is an in-person event.”

“Scholarships: the mission of afp is to foster the development and growth of fundraising professionals, and the afpneo chapter dedicates its resources to that mission by providing several scholarship opportunities throughout the year. Afpneo uses a portion of our net assets to offer scholarships for fundraising professionals in northeast ohio. This provides every member with the opportunity to increase their professionalism, knowledge, and skills by attending professional development meetings and conferences at both the local and national levels. In 2024, we provided five scholarships.”

“Mentoring: the goal of the mentoring program is to pair seasoned professionals with people new to the field, those transitioning job responsibilities, or those searching for additional networking opportunities. Matches are based on goals, location, interest, and the type of nonprofits they serve. Mentors/mentees have one-on-one meetings throughout the year, attend professional development meetings, and participate in various mentoring events. In 2024, there were 13 mentoring pairs participating in the program, representing a wide variety of nonprofits, skill levels, and interests. Since 2018, more than 130 meaningful mentorships have been formed between members.”
