Doorways and entries to accommodate walkers or wheelchairs, and installation of interior and exterior railings as well as a variety of smaller household repairs. These accessibility modifications are designed to permit elderly and disabled homeowners to stay in or return after rehabilitation to their own homes preventing premature and costly nursing home placement.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4B

Neighborhoods in the investment area include over 10,000 canton residents and over 2,700 full-time employees. The project is part of over 45 million in infrastructure and streetscape improvements slated for 2014-2019 and extending from the city's eastern boundary, along mahoning road and 12th street to interstate 77 on the west. Project funding has been derived from private, local, state and federal sources. Major partners, along with jrc, include the city of canton, stark regional transit authority and the hoover foundation. Other economic development underway in the investment area includes a planned industrial park, private investments including two national investors, and targeted demolition resulting in the greatest removal of blight in any sector of canton, and lending to a cleaner, more investment friendly area. During fiscal year 2015 over 1,000 residents and business owners engaged in community development in the project area. Engagement occurred through several initiatives headed by starkfresh, a program of jrc. These included the corridor farmers' market, an urban teaching farm, and a mobile market providing fresh food to areas where resdients may have difficulty getting out of their homes. Starkfresh endeavors to increase people's access to, and consumption of, fresh healthy, locally sourced foods, and has generated the interest for a healthier community. Note: in november 2015, the jrc board of directors approved starkfresh moving with the jr coleman community renovation corporation into a newly created 501(c)(3).

THE PROJECTED BENEFITS INCLUDE RETENTION OF EXISTING JOBS AND CREATION OF NEW JOBS, PRIVATE INVESTMENTS, INCREASED MARKETABILITY OF PROPERTY AND INCREASED PROPERTY VALUES, AND ULTIMATELY AN IMPROVED QUALITY OF LIFE FOR THOSE WHO LIVE AND WORK IN THE SURROUNDING NEIGHBORHOODS. THE NEIGHBORHOODS IN THE INVESTMENT AREA INCLUDE OVER 10,000 CANTON RESIDENTS AND OVER 2,700 FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES.
