| OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS, THE CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT IN MANSFIELD HAS SEEN AN INCREASE IN NEW BUSINESSES AND ENTERTAINMENT OPTIONS. EVEN WITH ALL OF THIS POSITIVE MOMENTUM, WE RECOGNIZE THAT THERE IS STILL MORE THAT CAN BE DONE TO MAKE THE CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT A DESTINATION AND THE HUB OF OUR COMMUNITY; IN FACT WE BELIEVE THAT IT IS VITAL TO OUR COMMUNITY'S FUTURE SUCCESS. TO BE SUCCESSFUL WE NEED TO ATTRACT BUSINESSES TO FILL EMPTY BUILDINGS, MAKE OUR COMMUNITY MORE WALKABLE, PROVIDE BIKING ROUTES, CREATE MORE DOWNTOWN LIVING OPTIONS, ENCOURAGE JOB GROWTH, AND FIND WAYS TO DRAW PEOPLE IN FROM OUTSIDE OUR COMMUNITY. OVER THE YEARS THERE HAVE BEEN MANY SUGGESTIONS FOR HOW WE CAN MAKE THIS PART OF OUR COMMUNITY GREAT, BUT THERE ARE STILL OBSTACLES THAT STAND IN OUR WAY. WE NEED TO THINK CREATIVELY AND BE WILLING TO WORK COLLABORATIVELY TO FIND NEW WAYS TO OVERCOME THOSE CHALLENGES OUR COMMUNITY FACES. COMMUNITIES ALL OVER THE COUNTRY HAVE FOUND SUCCESS IN THESE AREAS AND WE BELIEVE HELPING TO INTRODUCE A GROUP OF CURRENT AND EMERGING COMMUNITY LEADERS TO BEST PRACTICES FROM OTHER AREAS WILL HELP US FOSTER A NEW SPIRIT OF COLLABORATION IN THE FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF MANSFIELD. “Line 12 - salaries, other compensation and employee benefits: the foundation does not directly pay the foundation manager. Instead, they pay a management fee to the richland area chamber for the payroll and benefits of the manager. Because the management fee is for payroll and related expenses, it is categorized on the 990-ez as salaries, other compensation and employee benefits.”

“Yea - the young entrepreneurs academy (yea) is a year-long program that teaches students in grades 6-12 how to start and run their own, real businesses. Students brainstorm business ideas, decide if they want to work by themselves or as a team, write a business plan, pitch their plan to investors for funding, and actually launch their own business or social movement. All of the learning is real and experiential. Students leave the class as business owners, complete with a dba and bank account”
“Leadership unlimited - founded in 1982, leadership unlimited is a planned learning program designed to provide men and women of demonstrated leadership ability with the opportunity to interact with existing leaders and develop their knowledge of challenges and opportunities for leadership in the greater mansfield, oh and richland county area.”
“Over the last few years, the central business district in mansfield has seen an increase in new businesses and entertainment options. Additionally, we also want to expose these leaders to what is coming down the pike for the future. We believe for mansfield to be successful we must look ahead to a rapidly changing world and be prepared to adjust. South by southwest (sxsw) is a 10-day conference and festival held annually in austin, texas. Some of the greatest thought leaders in the world come together to present current best practices and concepts that will be developed in the near future. The first five days of sxsw is the interactive" portion of the conference with 25 different tracks and the last five days of sxsw is a music and entertainment festival. Sxsw interactive is the one conference that shows you right now what people will be doing three to five years in the future. This annual festival celebrates innovation, ideas and dilemmas of the tech age. This year sxsw is introducing a new experience called the cities summit, which is a fresh look at the future of cities. This program explores the future of cities through two full days of inspirational talks, hands-on learning sessions, and special events to spark connection. It is designed to bridge the dialogue between city leaders and decision-makers with sxsw communities - digital creatives, entrepreneurs, designers, artists, and others for a fresh look at how we shape our cities and how they shape us. It is an opportunity for civic leaders, creative citizens and urbanists of all disciplines to join together to learn, strategize and form coalitions to service and benefit all cities of tomorrow. The program featured two days of dynamic programming, performance, pop- up exhibits, and events exploring the future of our cities. We identified a diverse group of 15 current and/or emerging leaders who have a passion for our community and want to take the central business district to the next level. They committed to attending the interactive" portion of sxsw, participating in forums and activities in six tracks that have been identified as focus areas for the central business district. This group of 15 leaders do not all know each other, and part of our goal is to build new relationships to foster new collaboration. The 15 attendees will return with new ideas and suggestions. A second group of 28 individuals has been identified to serve in an advisory capacity. Based upon their experiences, these two groups will come together in their respective roles to determine a plan of action that will be presented to the richland county foundation board of trustees as a potential plan for investing in the central business district.”
“Economic club - four times each year since 1982, the economic club brings world-class speakers to our area for luncheon meetings. A portion of the annual membership supports economics classes offered to area educators by the foundation.”
“Beginning in 2017, the foundation participated in the south by southwest event utilizing grant funds from the richland county foundation to develop an economic plan for the downtown mansfield area. We selected 15 unique individuals who are invested in the downtown mansfield area and sent them to austin, texas to take in south by southwest (sxsw) for one week. At this annual event, some of the greatest thought leaders in the world come together to present current best practices and concepts that will be developed in the near future. The goal was to take in as many of the sessions and bring back that information to create a plan to help downtown mansfield (the central business district) continue to flourish. We worked with 26 advisors to help narrow down all of the ideas that came back with us and created a plan to present to the richland county foundation for future spending opportunities. The program was funded by a grant from the richland county foundation.”

| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 8 | OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS, THE CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT IN MANSFIELD HAS SEEN AN INCREASE IN NEW BUSINESSES AND ENTERTAINMENT OPTIONS. BASED UPON THEIR EXPERIENCES, THESE TWO GROUPS WILL COME TOGETHER IN THEIR RESPECTIVE ROLES TO DETERMINE A PLAN OF ACTION THAT WILL BE PRESENTED TO THE RICHLAND COUNTY FOUNDATION BOARD OF TRUSTEES AS A POTENTIAL PLAN FOR INVESTING IN THE CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT. |

| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 10 | BEGINNING IN 2017, THE FOUNDATION PARTICIPATED IN THE SOUTH BY SOUTHWEST EVENT UTILIZING GRANT FUNDS FROM THE RICHLAND COUNTY FOUNDATION TO DEVELOP AN ECONOMIC PLAN FOR THE DOWNTOWN MANSFIELD AREA.
