Section on Health Policy and Admin of the American Physical Therapy Assoc

“The four officers and at least one of the remaining members of the board of directors shall constitute the executive committee. The fifth member is elected to the executive committee annually by members of the board of directors who are not members of the executive committee. Duties and responsibilities: 1. Create, appoint, and determine purposes of such special committees or task forces as it deems necessary. 2. Establish and maintain a section office, contracting with staff or others as administrator of the section office. 3. Appoint liaisons and representatives to other groups. 4. Provide for method of receiving and responding to matters requiring immediate attention between meetings of the board of directors. 5. Make decisions that are in keeping with section philosophy, mission statement, policies and procedures, and previous board or membership action. 6. Revise the budget as needed between board of directors meetings. 7. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the board of directors.”

“Hpa contracts with an association management company to manage the day-to-day business of the association. Hpa does not own/rent/lease office space or equipment. The office is provided through the association management agreement.”

“Organization offers different categories of membership consistent with the structure of the american physical therapy association. Annual dues are paid through national apta. Membership categories are physical therapist (pt), pt assistant (pta), student of physical therapy, foreign-educated pt and pta mebership, international partners, retired or life mebership, and faculty partners membership. As a professional assoication, members must meet minimum education requirements.”

“Each member casts one vote to elcet the governing body with the exception of student members who are non-voting and pta members who receive 1/2 vote.”

“The form 990 is reviewed by the treasurer. If they determine there are questions or concerns related to the 990. They will initiate a review by the organization's finance committee and/or executive committee (officers).”

“Directors are asked each year to review the conflict of interest policy and identify any potential conflicts of interest.”

“Executive committee performs annual review and negotiation for association management services contract.”

“The form 1023 is available upon request from the national organization (apta). The 990 is available upon request. Some of the organization's governing documents are available upon request.
