Mission

To establish, equip, maintain and operate a museum and depository for the collection, classification, preservation, study, and interpretation of records, relics, articles, artifacts, and other things of historic and educational interest connected with or pertaining to the origin, development and growth of professional football in the united states, and through such activities, to disseminate information and enhance the understanding and appreciation of the general public with respect to the historic and contemporary effect of the positive values and tradition of this sport upon american life and culture.

Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 1A

An executive committee, which shall consist of not fewer than three or more than seven trustees, shall advise with and assist the officers of the corporation in all matters concerning its interests and the management of its affairs and in particular with respect to all proposed purchases and sales of securities. When the board of trustees is not in session the executive committee shall have and may exercise the powers granted to it by the board of trustees and also so far as may be permitted by law in the management of the business and affairs of the organization.

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 6

Members of the organization include the current board of trustees, governing and honorary, and such other persons of full age who have been or shall be duly elected to membership.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

The vice president of finance and other accounting staff work with external accountants to prepare the form 990. The form 990 is reviewed and approved by the vice president of finance and is made available to the board of trustees prior to filing.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

The conflict of interest policy is maintained by requiring each board member to complete a conflict of interest disclosure form at the december board meeting. As forms are returned by the trustees and key employees, they are logged and reviewed for potential conflicts of interest by the chairman of the board and vice president of finance. Any potential conflicts of interest are reviewed for improprieties, and if there are any improprieties, they are discussed and resolved. The log is reviewed so that all forms are returned and reviewed.
