| Calendar year 2025 marks the first Form 990 submission for the Baldwin Food Pantry following its designation as a 501(c)(3) organization. Providing food to those experiencing food insecurity is not new. Prior to October 2024, the pantry operated out of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Baldwin, Wisconsin. With the support of the local village the building was made available to provide additional space to provide free food for individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. The move to its current location was finalized in December 2024, and distribution began shortly thereafter. The pantry is open for distribution on Tuesdays from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Thursdays from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Clients sign in using provided forms, which are placed in a sleeve on the shopping cart. Each cart typically contains one to two boxes. Clients then select produce, meat, canned goods, breakfast foods, snacks, and bakery items. Item limits are posted and monitored by volunteers. After shopping, carts are weighed, and the total food amount is recorded on the sign-in sheet. Volunteers assist with weighing and help transport food to clients' vehicles. Anyone experiencing food insecurity may receive food, and no one is turned away. Clients may visit up to twice per month. Annual income is self-disclosed but not verified. The pantry served 3,161 families during the year. The pantry is fully volunteer-driven, with 3,692 hours contributed in 2025. Providing food to those experiencing food insecurity is not new. Prior to October 2024, the pantry operated out of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Baldwin, Wisconsin. With the support of the local village the building was made available to provide additional space to provide free food for individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. The move to its current location was finalized in December 2024, and distribution began shortly thereafter. The pantry is open for distribution on Tuesdays from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Thursdays from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Clients sign in using provided forms, which are placed in a sleeve on the shopping cart. Each cart typically contains one to two boxes. Clients then select produce, meat, canned goods, breakfast foods, snacks, and bakery items. Item limits are posted and monitored by volunteers. After shopping, carts are weighed, and the total food amount is recorded on the sign-in sheet. Volunteers assist with weighing and help transport food to clients' vehicles. Anyone experiencing food insecurity may receive food, and no one is turned away. Clients may visit up to twice per month. Annual income is self-disclosed but not verified. The pantry served 3,161 families during the year. The pantry is fully volunteer-driven, with 3,692 hours contributed in 2025. Each distribution includes two shifts of approximately two to two and a half hours. Volunteers also pick up food donations weekly from two Kwik Trip locations, Nilssen's Foods, four area Dollar General stores, and Crazy Fresh twice per week. Several volunteer groups assisted with cleaning and stocking shelves throughout the year. Food donations from Kwik Trip, Nilssen's Foods, Dollar General, and Crazy Fresh totaled approximately 155,040 pounds of food in 2025. Additional high-need items are purchased from St. Croix Valley Food Bank. |
