“Organizing, training & leadership development: - the poder family leadership collaborative facilitates and builds family leadership in public and community education including building leadership capacity for family engagement in schools, in creating transformation educational experiences for youth and families, and working with schools and the district to create equitable and just learning environments. Workshops are held throughout the year. - plaza comunitaria is the center of basic education that earth care/poder familiar offers to the community in santa fe with the vision of equipping spanish speakers to access better opportunities. - abriendo puertas / opening doors is an evidence-based program created by and for latino parents with children ages 0-5. It also provides resources for parents with older children, sharing positive parenting experiences and strategies. This course, apart from being for parents, is also for people who work with children, grandparents, uncles, brothers, godmothers and neighbors who are part of the upbringing of a child. - the el puente summer leadership academy is available to santa fe & area youth 14-25 years old offering a one week of leadership training, community building, friendship-making, and problem-solving. - the la milpa comunitaria project is a family food justice project that began with a small garden and conversations with community members to talk about the problem of access to healthy food by the migrant community on the southside of the city of santa fe. The project has flourished into a larger program that includes the design and creation of the la milpa community gardens at earth cares offices in addition to family workshops that includes a group of families that come together to discuss topics related with the way our food habits have change due to the production and preparation of food and food justice.”

“Solidarity economy, community driven planning & community health: the santa fe mutual aid network, coordinated by earth care, is a growing network of over 1,000 members, the majority of whom are latinx immigrants in sf county who are sharing needs and resources with one another through the pandemic and beyond. Earth care has hosted community events, like community swaps/community closets and brake light clinics (with santa fe dsa). We mainly connect community members to resources and funds through the santa fe connect program which institutionalized the networked aid response whose need was made so painfully obvious during the pandemic. The mutual aid solidarity network has: - redistributed nearly three quarters of a million dollars from those in our community who have excess resources to those in our community who have been disproportionately impacted, - helped members apply and secure over a million dollars in housing and utility aid, - and distributed thousands of masks and personal protection equipment at the beginning of the pandemic as well as thousands of lbs of food & medical deliveries. Environmental justice intiatives to support the southside of santa fe community respond to environmental and social inequities that have compounded over generations, leaving families vulnerable to a range of health issues such as respiratory problems, asthma, and increased risks of heart disease.”
