Awardees are also considered for: major contributions to scientific inquiry that is likely to advance the field of wound healing; technological innovations or mechanistic insight to quantify or improve wound healing or its research; academic achievement through mentoring across disciplines; and, the potential impact on research directions or therapies. Future awardees of the Thomas K. Hunt Lectureship will be selected annually by the Foundation Board of Directors. The award will fund the travel, lodging, meeting registration and an honorarium. This activity supports the research and education mission of the Foundation.$0$5,000
Wounded Warrior Athlete Initiative- In 2013, the Foundation created the Wounded Warrior Athlete Initiative to support wounded warrior athletes to promote optimal wound and skin care. The Foundation initiative was to 1) create Warrior Care wound and skin kits 2) solicit additional wound and skin care donations for the athletes. The Warrior Care kits were designed to ease athlete skin and wound care while traveling. The Foundation labeled kits contained TSA compatible hand sanitizer, sunscreen, moisturizer, wound gel, skin protectant, silver antimicrobial and anitfungal as well as wound dressings and a hand mirror in a lightweight backpack. The Warrior Care kits were manufactured and underwritten by the Foundation's partner Swiss-American Products for each of the athletes.
