“A draft of Form 990 is emailed to Board Members for review before the return is finalized by the Treasurer. Included is a notice of receipt fo the Board Member to sign and return. Any questions regarding the tax return are addressed and resolved at the next Board meeting.”

“The Organizations mission is to tranform lives with service dogs. This is accomplished by providing highly trained service dogs to populations in need and rehabilitating the incarcerated populations who train the service dog candidates.”

“The POOCH program was created to allow TLCAD to train more service dogs for individuals in need. By partnering with correctional institutions, incarcerated individuals are taught to train service dogs utilizing only positive reinforcement training methods and taught the science of behavior. Evidence from our 2018 internal impact report found that these methods increase inmate flexibility, communication and social skills, while academic research has found that dog training programs reduce violence in the prison and reduce the number of reoffending inmates. The POOCH program can currently accommodate 60 dogs and puppies in training. In 2018, 7 dogs graduated from the POOCH program as service dogs or facility dogs. TLCAD also launched the TLCAD Puppy Program in 2018.”
