“Part ii line 28: exempt purpose achievements:celp represented sierra club and friends of tesla park in a lawsuit against california parks and recreation to prevent an area of abundant natural resources (tesla park) from being managed for off road motor vehicular use as part of the carnegie state vehicle recreation areas.----celp represented sierra club in a lawsuit intended to prevent the city of los angeles from cutting off water to mono county ranchers in order to provide more water for domestic uses in the city. -----celp continued its representation of sierra club in connection with environmental issues in imperial county. On behalf of the club celp wrote letters to the county expressing concerns about water being pumped for uses associated with the border wall. The letters urged the county to assert its jurisdiction over wells that had been developed by the acoe in association with border wall construction. Upon completion of that segment of the border wall in imperial county water production from the wells was much reduced and most of the wells were capped. Celp assisted local environmentalists with voicing complaints about environmental damage in connection with the border wall. -----celp continued to represent sierra club in connection with the cease and desist order issued against california american water company by the swrcb in 2009. (monterey county)-----celp represented friends of the inyo in its opposition to gold mining projects in mono county, as well in regard to a proposed pumped storage water project in inyo county. Celp prepared intervention appeal papers to the federal power commission in connection with the pumped storage project on behalf of the friends of the inyo. -----celp represents sierra club in a proceeding before the swrcb involving nestle arrowhead mountain spring water. Nestle has, since 1931, been taking large amounts of water from strawberry canyon in the san bernardino mountains (averaging 194 afy). It diverts the water through tunnels and boreholes built near natural spring orifices on the san bernardino mountains national forest. The water, which is natural spring water, is piped down the canyon and transported by truck to a water bottling facility. It is sold and labelled as natural spring water. Nestle contends it needs no permit from the swrcb to take this water. The prosecution team of the state board contends its diversions are unlawful because a permit was needed to divert this spring water.”
