Mission and Program Overview

Mission

The council's primary goal is to improve business conditions in the health care field by making both health care and health insurance more affordable, and thus more accessible, to all oregonians. To achieve this goal, the council creates work groups focusing on reforming different aspects of the health care delivery system.

The council was created by oregon's major insurers and hospitals to identify ways to lower rapidly growing medical costs and the costs of health insurance in order to improve business conditions in the health care field by making both health care and health insurance more affordable, and thus more accessible, to all oregonians.

The membership of the council is made up of various organizations in the health care and health insurance industries, including health plans, hospitals, health systems, physicians, physician groups, medical care provider organizations, and representatives of the same. While receiving financial support and strategic and executive direction from its members and their representatives, the council operates independently of its member organizations.
