IRS990/Description0IN 2011, NASH HEALTH CARE FOUNDATION BEGAN A CAPITAL CAMPAIGN TO RAISE A MINIMUM OF $2 MILLION IN SUPPORT OF THE $4.5 MILLION NEW PEDIATRIC EMERGENCY CARE CENTER PROJECT AT NASH GENERAL HOSPITAL. THE CURRENT EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT AT NASH GENERAL HOSPITAL WAS BUILT IN 1993 AND WAS DESIGNED TO SERVE A MAXIMUM OF 40,000 PATIENTS ANNUALLY. CURRENTLY, THE NUMBER OF PATIENTS USING THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT HAS INCREASED TO NEARLY 65,000 PATIENTS ANNUALLY MAKING IT ONE OF THE BUSIEST EMERGENCY ROOMS IN NORTH CAROLINA.TWENTY PERCENT OF THE PATIENTS AT NASH GENERAL HOSPITAL'S EMERGENCY CARE CENTER ARE UNDER THE AGE OF 17 NEARLY DOUBLE THE AMOUNT OF PEDIATRIC PATIENTS IN OTHER NORTH CAROLINA EMERGENCY ROOMS. AT NASH, THIS TWENTY PERCENT EQUATES TO ABOUT 13,000 CHILDREN A YEAR. THE PEDIATRIC EMERGENCY CARE CENTER WILL INCLUDE A SEPARATE AND DISTINCT ENTRANCE, CHILD-FRIENDLY WAITING AREA, SEPARATE TRIAGE AREA INCLUDING SPECIAL RADIOLOGY AND IMAGING SERVICES DESIGNED FOR CHILDREN AND TEENAGERS, AND 10 PEDIATRIC-DESIGNATED EXAM ROOMS. THESE UNIQUE AMENITIES WILL OFFER A MORE COMFORTABLE AND SAFER EXPERIENCE FOR PATIENTS, THEIR FAMILIES AND THE DOCTORS AND OTHER HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS WHO TREAT THEM. FUNDS IN SUPPORT OF THE PEDIATRIC EMERGENCY CARE CENTER WILL BE RAISED THROUGH DIRECT CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN AS WELL AS TWO SPECIAL EVENTS, THE PATRONS GALA HELD ANNUALLY IN JANUARY AND THE GOLF CLASSIC HELD ANNUALLY IN MAY. TRIBUTE AND MEMORIAL NAMING OPPORTUNITIES IN THE NEW FACILITIES ARE BEING FINALIZED TO RECOGNIZE AND APPRECIATE SIGNIFICANT CAMPAIGN COMMITMENTS BY BUSINESSES, ORGANIZATIONS, FOUNDATIONS AND CHURCHES AND TO HONOR AND REMEMBER LOVED ONES OF INDIVIDUAL AND FAMILY DONORS.
