The bylaws were revised to more explicitly call out Opportunity Fund's alignment with the California Nonprofit Corporation Law; clean up old wording to eliminate redundancies and reflect our growth; and to improve overall document organization.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11

Opportunity Fund Finance committee shall have the responsibility for reviewing the Organization's form 990 (including all pertinent schedules) before it is filed with the Internal Revenue Service. Once the Finance Committee has approved the draft form 990, it shall be sent to all members of the board of directors for their review, prior to filing with IRS. Once the review period has been duly expired, the form 990 is filed with the IRS. The Finance Committee has the responsibility to confirm filing to the Board of Directors.

Financial Statement Notes

Part X, Line 2:

The Organization evaluates its uncertain tax positions and will recognize a loss contingency when it is probable that a liability has been incurred as of the date of the consolidated financial statements and the amount of the loss can be reasonably estimated. The amount recognized is subject to estimate and management judgement with respect to the likely outcome of each uncertain tax position. The amount that is ultimately sustained for an individual uncertain tax position or for all uncertain tax positions in the aggregate could differ from the amount recognized. As of June 30, 2016, management did not identify any uncertain tax positions. The Organization is subject to potential examination by taxing authorities for income tax returns filed in the U.S. federal jurisdiction and the State of California. The tax years that remain subject to potential examination for the U.S. federal jurisdiction are years ended June 30, 2013, and forward. The State of California tax jurisdiction is subject to potential examination for years ended June 30, 2012 and forward.

Since inception, Opportunity Fund has made over 8470 loans totaling $164 million in capital deployed to borrowers throughout California, the substantial majority of whom are low and moderate income and ethnic minorities. An estimated 6,000 people have been served.
