Financial Statement Notes

Part X, Line 2:

Accounting standards prescribe a comprehensive model for how an entity should measure, recognize, present, and disclose in its financial statements uncertain tax positions that the Association has taken or expects to take on a tax return. The Association recognizes the tax benefits from uncertain tax positions only if it is more likely than not that the tax position will be sustained on examination by the taxing authorities, based on the technical merits of the position. The tax benefits recognized in the financial statements from such positions are measured based on the largest benefit that has a greater than 50 percent likelihood of being realized upon ultimate settlement. It is the Association's policy to expense any interest and penalties associated with uncertain income tax positions in the year that the tax position is taken on the tax return. Interest is reported as interest expense and penalties are reported as other expenses

IRS990ScheduleD/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0Accounting standards prescribe a comprehensive model for how an entity should measure, recognize, present, and disclose in its financial statements uncertain tax positions that the Association has taken or expects to take on a tax return. The Association recognizes the tax benefits from uncertain tax positions only if it is more likely than not that the tax position will be sustained on examination by the taxing authorities, based on the technical merits of the position. The tax benefits recognized in the financial statements from such positions are measured based on the largest benefit that has a greater than 50 percent likelihood of being realized upon ultimate settlement. It is the Association's policy to expense any interest and penalties associated with uncertain income tax positions in the year that the tax position is taken on the tax return. Interest is reported as interest expense and penalties are reported as other expenses
