“The return is prepared by the outside accountants and reviewed by the audit committee members. The full board of trustees reviewed and approved the final form 990 prior to it being filed with the irs.”
“Cfi monitors conflicts of interest by having board members and senior staff fill out a conflict of interest disclosure form at the beginning of each calendar year. Potential conflicts of interest are disclosed by members and are discussed by the full board of trustees at the next meeting following disclosure. The organization maintains a conflict of interest policy for all employees. In complying with the conflict of interest policy, draft contracts between a member of the board of trustees and cfi are reviewed by the full board of trustees prior to approval. Staff and the member with whom cfi proposes to do business with are excluded from the review and voting process.”
“Cfi has a two-member annual review and compensation board committee which makes recommendations regarding the executive directors compensation to the full board for final approval. Neither the executive director nor staff are present for the board's deliberations on the recommendations. The last compensation and performance review was conducted in june 2016”
“The organization reviews requests by the public for its governing documents and conflict of interest policy on a case-by-case basis. The audited financial statements are available upon request and are also available via its website and the bbb wise giving alliance website.”
“The campaign finance institute is a non-partisan, educational 501(c)(3) organization that researches and documents campaign finance issues and educates the public about campaign finance policies and choices. The institute's activities include conducting reviews of the state of campaign finance in the united states and publishing studies and reports.”
“The institute, some of whom may charge for their publications.”
“For the years ended august 31, 2016 and 2015, the institute has documented its consideration of fasb asc 740-10, income taxes, that provides guidance for reporting uncertainty in income taxes and has determined that no material uncertain tax positions qualify for either recognition or disclosure in the financial statements. The federal form 990, return of organization exempt from income tax, is subject to examination by the internal revenue service, generally for three years after it is filed.”
