Activity 2

Our child care programs offer high quality child care activities for preschool and school age children from all segments of our community. We offer a variety of state licensed childcare programs, both full and part-time, which provide a safe and nurturing environment where youth can develop self-esteem, good values, and an appreciation of charitable service. Woven into the fabric of the ymca mission is a commitment to strengthening families. We partner with community and governmental agencies so that financial assistance is available for those who cannot afford to pay. In 2012 school age registration averaged 10 students per day and our preschool averaged 10 students per day and provided financial assistance in the amount of over 8,000.

Activity 3

Outreach and education/community partnerships our ymca believes in giving back and supporting our neighbors. We have been listening and responding to our community's most critical social needs for 10 years. Y programs, such as our summer lunch program is an example how we deliver training, resources, and support that empower our neightbors to effect change, bridge gaps, and overcome obstacles. With a grant from walmart we were able to add an activity component to our summer lunch program. Each day we engaged an average of 35 community kids visiting our y by serving free balanced lunch along with an activity ranging from crafts to matt ball in our gym. Lunch time provides us the avenue to help these children try foods they haven't tried before as well as learning the importance of eating a healthy diet based on the food pyramid not to mention providing lunch and a safe place to spend the day while mom and dad are working.
