“Primary exempt purpose: the mission of the downtown neighborhood association is to nurture the growth of downtown by amplifying art, life, and local business. This is the heart of our city, and we support our neighbors: restaurants and galleries, artists and architects, businesses, residents and nonprofits. We uplift our history because it shapes our future. We champion the arts and stand up for our communitys character. We advocate for development that provides community benefit. Together, were cultivating a stronger neighborhood, where both locals and visitors can feel connected to this place called richmond. Program service accomplishments: the downtown neighborhood association (dna), with jurisdiction over the richmond arts district, is dedicated to uplifting arts and culture organizations within its footprint, many of which are the flagship organizations of our city along the broad street corridor. The first fridays art walk, one of the citys signature events, showcases these vibrant organizations and brings many hundreds of people downtown each month. Galleries, art spaces, retail shops and other businesses open their doors for extended evening hours. Popup vendors dot the sidewalks and guests visit local restaurants. The diverse crowd”
