“The bylaws were amended for the following changes during the year: *Committee Policies Section added a new National Events Committee *Legal Matters Section defined new procedures for legal matters”

“SLG is a private membership organization. Members are selected based on an individual meeting the criteria set forth by the organization and successful completion of the new member education program. Individuals selected for membership in SLG must have good standing or have graduated from a 4-year institution; be of good character; have an interest in activities that will enhance the academic atmosphere at their college, university, and/or community; and have a sincere desire to contribute to the work of the Sorority.”

“Members elect the governing body at the national convention, every other year. Terms are for two years.”

“Some policies/changes to bylaws are brought forth by the membership and then are voted on at our bi-annual convention. All active, good standing entities have 1 vote, this includes undergrad chapters and alum associations.”

“The Board of Directors receives a copy of Form 990 prior to filing.”

“All members at Headquarters, National Board of Directors and Regional Director are covered. All members must disclose any personal conflicts of interest that may prevent them from being unbiased in their role. In addition to an annual disclosure of conflicts, any additional potential conflicts of interest must be disclosed in a timely fashion. Those with a conflict must recuse themselves from being involved in decisions or actions on applicable matters.”

“At or near the time of each performance review, the Chair, or her designees, shall also conduct a salary review. Salary increases are at the discretion of the National Board and shall be based on performance of the Executive Director, regional salaries of comparable positions, and current funding, expenses, and financial stability of SLG.”

“The organization makes the governing documents, Form 990 and financial statements available to the public upon specific request. The applicable materials are either mailed or emailed, or a request can be made to inspect the documents at the office of the organization during normal business hours.”
