The mission of north carolina opera is to enhance the cultural life in the triangle by presenting the highest possible quality professional opera performances, developing and increasing an appreciation of the opera art form in the area, and providing local artists with the opportunity to develop their talent.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The organization has adopted the provisions of fasb asc 740, income taxes. Using this guidance, tax positions initially need to be recognized in the financial statements when it is more-likely-than-not the positions will be sustained upon examination by the tax authorities. It also provides guidance for derecognition, classification, interest and penalties, accounting in interim periods, disclosure and transition. As of june 30, 2016, the organization has no uncertain tax positions that qualify for either recognition or disclosure in the financial statements. The organization is subject to routine audits by taxing jurisdictions; however there are currently no audits for any tax years in progress.
