“The roadback foundation has funded basic research in order to furthur understand the mode of action of antibiotics for the treatment of rheumatic diseases. The major activity of the foundation is the dissemination of information , reports about clinical studies, etc., to patients and healthcare professionals around the world. The foundation has no paid employees and volunteers run all of the programs. Most of the information is distributed through the web site of the organization. The foundation also maintains a voice mail service to accept telephone requests. In addition to this, local volunteers serve as antibiotic protocol network contacts, or apnc's, to provide individual contact for those needing more direct support. The foundation also publishes a periodic e-bulletin newsletter to provide updated information about antibiotic therapy for rheumatic diseases,current research developments in this area, and explanations about aspects of the diseases. The e-bullitin is provided free of charge to anyone who signs up for it via the web site.”
