The Form 990 and all related schedules, statements and attachments are reviewed and approved by the President, the Chief Financial Officer, the appropriate representative(s) from the Board of Directors and the auditing outside CPA prior to finalizing and filing these tax returns with the Internal Revenue Service.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12C

Crown Hill Heritage Foundation, Inc. periodically distributes conflict of interest questionnaires to each officer, employee and member of the Board of Directors. The questionnaires include statements regarding other employment, being related to anyone on the board and other items that may create an appearance of a potential independence issue. The identification, evaluation and resolution of those issues are discussed with the appropriate level of management or members of the Board of Directors.

Form 990, Part VII - Compensation Explanation

Crown Hill Heritage Foundation, Inc. does not have any employees and accordingly does not file related payroll tax forms. It leases all of its staffing needs from SCI Shared Resources LLC. Crown Hill Heritage Foundation, Inc.'s Board of Directors determines and sets all staffing compensation rates after a thorough review of all related issues. Crown Hill Heritage Foundation, Inc. shares its President and an office assistant with Crown Hill Cementery, a related 501(c)(13) tax exempt organization, whom compensations are allocated based on a service performed percentage. All payroll expenses have been appropriately allocated and detailed in the functional expense listing. One deferred compensation plans was set up in accordance with the provisions of Section 457 (b) of the Internal Revenue Code. There is one employee participation in the 457(b) plan. Contributions to the plan are made up of employee contributions only.

Crown Hill Heritage Foundation, Inc. is exempt from federal income taxes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and a similar provision of Indiana law. However, the Foundation is subject to federal income tax on any unrelated business taxable income. The Foundation's IRS Form 990 is subject to review and examination by federal and state authorities. The Foundation believes it has appropriate support for any tax positions taken, and therefore, does not have any uncertain income tax positions that are material to the financial statements.

As the only accredited arboretum in central Indiana, we work diligently to protect and enhance the natural beauty of our downtown canopy, while respecting the historic cultural landscape. We also nurture our native pollinators through habitat development and care.

Crown Hill Heritage Foundation, Inc. shares its President and an office assistant with Crown Hill Cementery, a related 501(c)(13) tax exempt organization, whom compensations are allocated based on a service performed percentage. All payroll expenses have been appropriately allocated and detailed in the functional expense listing. One deferred compensation plans was set up in accordance with the provisions of Section 457 (b) of the Internal Revenue Code. There is one employee participation in the 457(b) plan. Contributions to the plan are made up of employee contributions only.
